Greatness Moves Us: Canada’s Historic Run at Paris 2024

The Canadian Paralympic Team wrapped up an outstanding performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, earning 29 medals—10 gold, 9 silver, and 10 bronze. This medal count surpasses the 21 medals from Tokyo 2020 and ties the team’s Rio 2016 performance. The 10 gold medals are the most since Beijing 2008, a testament to the team’s dedication and preparation.

Canada saw success across six sports, with standouts in Para swimming (13 medals), Para athletics (9), and Para cycling (4). Multi-medalists included Nicholas Bennett and Aurelie Rivard, both capturing three medals, while Brianna Hennessy made history with Canada’s first-ever Para canoe medals. The women’s sitting volleyball team also claimed a historic bronze, Canada’s first team sport medal since 2012.

With 126 athletes competing across 18 sports, the Paris Games showcased the strength and spirit of the Canadian Paralympic Team, setting the stage for continued growth and success in Para sport.
